Breaking News: Chef Michael David, New G-BOT Corporate Chef, Makes His Debut at OCFF

After creating the Inaugural Guest Ball for Great Balls On Tires’ (G-BOT) July 2010 launch, two months later, Chef Michael David joins G-BOT as Corporate Chef. When asked why he is joining G-BOT, Chef Michael shared, “I’m thinking beyond the truck.”

Getting the ball in motion, EaterLA.com originally ran G-BOT’s launch story with the headline, “Comme Ça’s Michael David Launches Great Balls On Tires Truck.” While untrue and republished, it served as some foreshadowing to the young food truck’s future.

Chef Michael intends to keep the integrity of G-BOT’s menu while incorporating a few of his ideas. What can G-BOT fans expect? “These will be my take on meatballs,” he said and added, “Stay tuned.”

Ballers will be able to meet Chef Michael and taste G-BOT this Saturday at the OC Foodie Fest.

    Chef Michael has also created G-BOT’s homage to the first ever food truck event in Orange County. A pair of hot and cold appropriately named The OC Balls. The first is a savory arancini, which literally means little oranges — a risotto ball stuffed with fresh mozzarella. The cold ball is a vanilla cheesecake ball wrapped in toasted orange cake.

    The OC Balls were amazing! After reading this article, they were on my hit list. I was fortunate enough to eat a pair before they ran out. The hot ball was packed with flavor and the right balance of risotto and cheese. The cheesecake was complementary, however I managed to save a few bites to take home. It was great to meet Chef Michael and see him serving.
