December is here! So what are you planning to do for your date night during the most wonderful time of the year? Are you going to take your girlfriend/boyfriend out on the town for a few drinks? Or are you more like me and want to go out and experience the lights and festivities Christmas time has to offer? Well, here are few cool date night ideas you might find interesting:

Aliso Viejo

This Christmas light display is located in a cul-de-sac. If you want to be welcomed with hot drinks like cocoa or apple cider then make sure you come on Friday, Saturday or Sunday evenings. This is a great place to take some non-perishable food to donate so you can help make someone else’s Christmas happier. The food items you take will be used to benefit the South County Outreach program.

Location-Near the intersection of El Toro Road and Aliso Creek Road.

Balboa Peninsula (Newport beach)

This event is free for anyone who wants to come out and enjoy the show. The boat parade lights up the harbor for all five nights. The parade usually starts at Bay Island at 6 Pm and lasts about 3 and a half hours. There are hundreds of waterfront estates that will participate in the event along with more than 250 ships. This parade is viewed by more than 1.5 million people each year! If you want to enjoy a romantic moment with your significant other, make sure you’re there for the opening fireworks display on december 16th at about 6:20 pm or the closing fireworks display at 9:30 on december 20.

The Zimmerman House On Balboa Island

This house became the first to use a PC to synchronize the lights and the music. There a currently ten songs that are programmed in this way, a few notable songs are “Jingle Bell Rock”, “All I Want For Christmas” and “Sleigh Ride”. These songs are used to create a unique light show which is controlled by the rhythm of each song, it creates the illusion that the lights are actually dancing along with the music. It’s easy to identify the house because of the 25 foot green christmas tree they have outside. They also have a big chimney draped in red carpets and lights that spell “Balboa Island”. They have about 24,000 lights that you and your loved ones would love.
