Are you curious about lash extensions? I was, but I had a lot of questions about them. How long do they last? Will they look unnatural? Will they fit in to my active life? That’s why I went to Vanity Belle Beauty Boutique and asked them all my questions and then decided to go for it.

Merielle from Vanity Belle did the honors. Visiting Vanity Belle in itself is a pampering experience. Tucked into a quaint and pedicured space in Costa Mesa, you feel like you’re stepping into one of your favorite Pinterest boards. Champagne is one of the main decor themes and the entire boutique is dripping with soothing grays and soft white. They offer an array of beauty services aside from lash extensions like blowouts, makeup, mini-facials, waxing and bridal services.

Merielle offered me a strawberry-infused cold glass of water before our one and a half hour session began. She would proceed to adhere hundreds of tiny lashes to my own lashes. Using medical-grade adhesive it is a time-consuming process (when done right) and surprisingly relaxing! She told me many of the gals who come in for extensions (or fills) fall asleep during the process — thinking of it like a little respite from kids or their hectic life.

Eyelash extensions should last for 2 - 3 weeks if taken care of properly — no oil-based products or mascara (which you don’t need anyway). After they were applied Marielle took time to go through with me all of the care instructions and even gave me a little brush to keep them tamed.

I honestly was SHOCKED and the difference eyelash extensions made in my appearance. I went with a more natural look since I don’t wear too much makeup regularly. They looked like my own lashes, just fuller. I’ve received comments on my eye color and that I look good, but no one has asked if I have extensions (#goals). Swimming. Hiking. Yoga. Nothing seemed to make the lashes fall off or look clumpy.

One week in and they look better than ever. During the day they give me a rested, soft and pretty look.

Out on a date with my hubby at Cucina Enoteca they boosted my nighttime look without being overdone. They don’t feel heavy or bothered my eyes (or contacts). They were applied and I never really thought about them again.
