Football season is back! The NFL returns for another dramatic 13 week regular season of American football. Last year, it was the New England Patriots that had the honor of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy after a controversial post-season. This year will be different in hope of bringing the trophy to California by one of our three Californian football teams.

Week 1 begins on Thursday, September 10 2015 as the Pittsburgh Steelers go up against the defending Superbowl Champs the New England Patriots. The game kicks off at 5:30 P.M.

Following Thursday’s game the rest of the NFL will play on Sunday, September 13 2015 which includes 13 games and featuring the home openers for the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers. Monday Night Football returns to the nation’s TV sets as the San Francisco 49ers will have their home opener.

The San Diego Chargers had a good season in 2014 finishing with a 9-7 record but it was not enough to make the playoffs. The Chargers will host the Detroit Lions, kick off is at 1:05 P.M. in sunny San Diego.

The Oakland Raiders will look to improve this season after coming off a 3-13 record last season. In search of improvement they will also work towards making the playoffs since the last time they made an appearance in 2002. The Raiders will take on the Cincinnati Bengals at 1:25 P.M. in Oakland.

Lastly, we have the San Francisco 49ers who will invite the Minnesota Vikings to the bay area for the return of Monday Night Football starting at 7:20 P.M. The 49ers had an even season last year, finishing the season with an 8-8 record and not making the playoffs. This season’s schedule looks like to be a tough one for the 49ers as they hope to make the playoffs once again.
