Meet Our Food Trucks | Piaggio on Wheels

July 28th, 2010 |No Comments »

Chef Piaggio’s inspiration for his truck came during a 2007 trip to his native Argentina, where street carts sell choripán, a sausage sandwich whose name comes from the words for sausage (chorizo) and bread (pan). In November 2009 Piaggio and his wife Rosane turned his vision into the Piaggio on Wheels truck, and now he serves his own version of the choripán, as well as other Argentinian specialties like his signature chicken empanada, which has been a culinary mainstay of his throughout his career.

The restaurant business is in Piaggio’s blood, and it shows in his cooking, which is why OC Weekly food critic Gustavo Arellano boldly stated, “I now do declare Piaggio on Wheels one of the county’s better gourmet loncheras, if not the best,” in his review.
